Wolfe Tones GFC was founded in 1922 by former members of the Owen Roes, a club formed in 1895 and who played their football originally in the Meath Championship due to the lack of football in County Louth.
The newly formed Wolfe Tones had to wait two years until they got their first competitive match, coming against Boyne Rangers of Drogheda. It was also their first competitive win, outscoring the Rangers by 1-07 to 1-03.
Originally the club only catered for men's adult football, but it has grown to now not only offer underage football to both underage boys and girls, it is hope in a few short years we will have our very first Adult Ladies team.
